1 Corinthians 9:16-18
Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship. 18 What is my reward then? NKJV
Paul woes himself if he fails to preach the gospel while the wicked preacher stood still in the pulpit showing his congregation a downcast face for once again he failed to prepare for his sermon. He was seeking for sympathy from the congregation and so instead of saying “woe is me” for not preaching the gospel he said to the congregation “you owe me”.
